I have always been fascinated by portals -- windows, doors, gates, fences and the ways we surround ourselves. They keep us secure but also allow us to escape if we wish.  I capture how nature interacts beautifully with these entrances, embracing, sheltering, decorating and coaxing, nature and man-made architectural details creating their own unique living work of art.

I work with the very different mediums of watercolor and oil to bring these portals to life.  I am inspired by the vibrant transparency of watercolor, delicacy and lyricism of how it reacts with paper and water.  I also love oil painting and its strong characteristics. I feel I have a more visceral way with oil using textures and strong brush strokes that interact with colors and light and dark shadows to create a unique image. I invite you to become a part of my work, walk through the gate, open the door, look through the window, and let your imagination become part of my painting and your own personal story.
