HOUSE AND ARCHITECTURAL PORTRAIT COMMISSIONS
My Process in Creating Your House Portrait
I have been professionally exhibiting, painting and creating commissions for over 20 years. My expertise and handling of the watercolor medium is what makes a house portrait unique and beautiful, a treasured memory – so much more personal than a photograph or a digital image.
I believe that my client and I are a great team and we collaborate on creating a beautiful piece of art together. Communication is a large part of my process, helping me to get to know the client, their memories and feelings for their home.
What Kind of Image Do I Give You?
I work from one single photo reference that is a clear image so I can see the structure, details and landscaping. From this I create a pencil drawing – this allows minor changes and additions. Many people take a recent picture or use the image that was in their real estate listing.
Can I Make Changes Once We Start?
You can add or delete any landscaping features to the pencil sketch. The outline of the house cannot be altered. The approved sketch is transferred to watercolor paper and painted. Once the sketch is approved and signed off no other changes can be made.
What is the Payment Process
1/3 due when I receive your home image.
1/3 due when pencil sketch is approved.
Remaining 1/3 due before shipping or delivery of the final painting.
Shipping charges are extra and costs will be computed and added for the final payment before item is shipped.
Payments accepted via PayPal.
I communicate through email for questions and concerns. Phone calls are always a great way to get to know each other. I will always verify colors since the shades and tones will vary from a photo, digital image and from computer to computer.
Once payment is received and the painting is delivered I will send an email with an image of your final painting for your files.
Materials Used in Painting
I only use professional acid-free watercolor paper. I work in watercolor for house commissions – the luminescence and bright colors of the medium make the portraits come alive. I use only artist professional quality watercolor pigment.
